The Schatzbergbahn in Wildschönau, Auffach is one of the most important cable car routes in the Tyrol region and enjoys a great reputation. The name “Ski Juwel” (“Ski Jewel”) reflects the enthusiasm it arouses among guests and employees alike. Thanks to its year-round availability, the cable car is an indispensable engine of local tourism and alpine infrastructure.
A key part of the success of the Schatzbergbahn is the state-of-the-art snow groomer workshop. The newly built workshop and connected garage with filling station were reopened in 2020. Nine PistenBully 600 groomers are maintained here in close cooperation with Kässbohrer. Michael Fill has been responsible for maintenance of the snow groomers for 33 years now. He completed his apprenticeship at Kässbohrer. Together with Florian Holzer and Thomas Unterberger – who have also been with the company for 21 and 24 years, respectively – the snow groomers are serviced according to a strict maintenance schedule. Their experience and commitment contribute significantly to the high quality and reliability of the equipment. Maintenance is carried out according to a strict schedule. The machines are carefully serviced every 400 to 500 hours of operation. This professional approach ensures that the snow groomers retain a high resale value and are always ready for use.
The Schatzbergbahn is open all year round: it takes skiers and snowboarders to the pistes in winter, and hikers up the mountain in summer. The workshop is powered by a regional hydropower plant. The rapidly biodegradable hydraulic oil ECOSYNT PAO 46 from MOTOREX is increasingly being used in the hydraulic systems. These sustainable initiatives underline environmental awareness and make an important contribution to environmental protection in the region.
A well-coordinated team is behind the smooth running of the Schatzbergbahn. Managing Director Ludwig Schäffer leads the team with a wealth of experience and intuition. Most of the employees have been part of the team for many years. This long-standing cooperation ensures an excellent working atmosphere based on mutual trust and professionalism. Challenges are overcome together and innovations are accepted openly.

The lubricant specialist not only supplies high-quality oils and greases, but also offers technical advice and support with maintenance issues. Oil is supplied directly to the workshop from a newly built storage room and ensures an efficient, safe process. The high levels of availability, rapid delivery capability and technical know-how of the partner are also appreciated. Andreas Huter, Area Manager Tyrol/Vorarlberg, is in regular contact with the Schatzbergbahn team. With the ALPINE LINE, the company meets all the necessary approvals for snow groomers – another contribution towards smooth operation.
