Success—either in business or on the racetrack—is made and lost with the right partners. Companies want more than just suppliers. They want partners who share their visions and values, and provide long-term active input. Working as a team on quality and innovation is essential, as is trust, particularly when the shared goal is success on the track.

Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP has been relying on MOTOREX expertise and quality for over 25 years. The partnership is about more than just winning races. It also combines tradition and innovation in the 360° perspective of two strong brands. Both are highly specialized, have over a century’s experience and boast an impressive track record in motor sports. The longstanding partnership is based on shared values and the crucial trust already referred to above. Even when Kawasaki restructured its team before the 2022 FIM Motocross World Championship, its relationship with MOTOREX was never in doubt.

The Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP, which is owned by legendary racing driver and former Formula One World Champion Kimi Räikkönen, goes into each MXGP race determined to win. Team manager Antti Pyrhönen, himself an experienced FIM Motocross World Championship competitor, is in charge of day-to-day business. Between them, Kimi and Antti have enormous experience and have been successfully leading their MXGP team for over ten years. “Our partnership with MOTOREX shows just how important close cooperation is for success. The chemistry between us is just right. The right motor oil will bring out an engine’s full performance and provide certainty even under extreme stress. And that’s the key to top performance”, Pyrhönen explains. “Furthermore, we benefit from MOTOREX's many tried-and-tested, highly efficient care products. They save us valuable time in crucial moments, as well as conserving materials. That pays off time and again”.

Teamwork for maximum performance

In the motor sports world, custom solutions tend to be the rule rather than the exception. The task for MOTOREX's development department was therefore to develop, test and then manufacture a motor oil that was perfectly aligned with Kawasaki’s requirements. The work focused on maximum performance and guaranteed reliability. MOTOREX's chemists dealt with this challenging task, the lubrication technology equivalent of a high wire act, masterfully and in close cooperation with the race team. Since then the engines have been renowned for their proverbial Swiss reliability.

Partnership beyond the racetrack

Not only did MOTOREX develop the ideal engine oil for the Kawasaki KX 450 SR, it supplies the team with everything needed to maintain and prepare the bikes. The knowledge gained from the partnership with Kawasaki and other elite race teams is channeled directly into product development. This guarantees that every MOTOREX user worldwide can enjoy the company's much lauded #raceproven quality. The Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP makes bespoke aluminum and titanium components for its bikes at its state-of-theart workshop in the Belgian town of Lommel. Unfortunately, the product recommended by the manufacturer of the machining equipment as a machining fluid and tool lubricant tended to foam when it came into contact with water from the machines’ water feeds. In turn, this had a negative impact on the quality of the parts. MOTOREX analyzed the machining fluid and water used in the machines and resolved the challenge with SWISSCOOL 8000. Even though production was irregular—i.e. the machines were idle for lengthy periods—the machining fluid satisfied the demanding requirements for parts manufacture in full. Not only was the foaming problem solved, it was possible to sustainably optimize the entire production process.

Of course, the partnership is about more than just overcoming challenges together. Everything revolves around coveted race victories. These certainly include Romain Febvre’s five successive wins in the 2023 World Championship, which catapulted him to an impressive second place in the overall rankings. Febvre was also a key figure in Team France’s victory in the prestigious 2023 FIM Motocross of Nations. MOTOREX’s innovative solutions and expertise have repeatedly played a role in the Kawasaki team’s successes and highlight not only the importance of technical support, but also the outstanding teamwork without which these successes would not have been possible in the first place.

 Looking ahead to 2025

The Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP has put together its strongest stable of riders yet for the 2025 season and, for the first time, is also expanding its activities into the MX2 World Championship. Former FIM Motocross world champions Romain Febvre (France) and Pauls Jonass (Latvia) will be competing in the MXGP on built-to-win Kawasaki KX 450 SRs. Current EMX250 champion, Frenchman Mathis Valin, will be bolstering the team in the MX2 class on a Kawasaki KX 250. MOTOREX’s partnership with a top team underscores the company’s outstanding ability to supply first-class lubricants that are a perfect match for leading motorcycle manufacturers’ strict requirements and for the renowned precision and quality of Japanese technologies. This cooperation confirms MOTOREX’s global standing as a key partner to companies that demand reliable performance and top standards. The perfect combination for a successful 360-degree partnership.
