MOTOREX has further refined its tried-and-tested NEXUS FE (Fuel Economy) motor oil by incorporating a valuable additional benefit in the form of biodegradability. The use of renewable raw materials makes NEXUS FE ECO SAE 5W/30 one of the lowest carbon-footprint motor oils ever, and an excellent choice for environmentally sensitive applications.
With ever more companies being measured on their CO² emissions performance, every contribution to lower emissions counts. NEXUS FE ECO SAE 5W/30 is a high-lubricity motor oil that uses renewable raw materials to offset carbon from the moment the fluid is poured into an engine. Its high-lubricity properties also reduce fuel consumption and emissions, something that countries like France have been demanding with greater insistence since 2022. The fuel economy motor oils used must, like those in the MOTOREX family, satisfy strict requirements. Carbon offsetting is set to become a more stringent obligation going forward, and not only in the haulage sector.
MOTOREX has a fleet of modern Euro 6 trucks sourced from all the leading manufacturers. The vehicles are being progressively switched over to NEXUS FE ECO SAE 5W/30 during regular oil changes. From 2025, the entire fleet should be running on NEXUS FE ECO. The trucks that have already been changed over are currently being monitored and their performance evaluated.
Maximizing the content of ethically acceptable renewable raw materials in the base oils of NEXUS FE ECO SAE 5W/30 is the gateway to reducing CO² emissions naturally and to biodegradability. Biodegradability according to OECD 301 F is over 60% within 28 days. These achievements are partly attributable to the innovative formulation and use of latest-generation additives. Although reduced CO² emissions and fuel savings with no loss of performance are the haulage industry's primary considerations, biodegradability is an extremely valuable extra benefit when it comes to environmentally sensitive applications. After all, that extra bit of security is essential for any application that takes place in the natural environment—say agriculture, forestry, construction or mountainous or waterside settings. Thus it makes perfect sense for a construction vehicle working in a water protection zone to have not only the obligatory rapidly biodegradable hydraulic oil, but also a biodegradable motor oil. This is a consideration that lends a lot of credibility to sustainability strategies.
This latest development from MOTOREX is also attracting a lot of interest from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), the companies that build engines and vehicles. They are making a huge effort to further reduce consumption and emissions. This is the only way of complying with future limits and proactively addressing the costly issue of carbon offsetting. In this respect, NEXUS FE ECO SAE 5W/30's long-life properties are in perfect step with the times.
