Experiencing rough gear shifting, gear noise, or even transmission malfunctions? Changing the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) in automatic and dual-clutch transmissions will often work wonders. In Austria, the company SAG Austria Handels GmbH (operating under the brand name Derendinger) relies on the benefits of the fully automatic DYNCO 2.0 flushing device and transmission fluids from MOTOREX. Michael Pirovc, master auto mechanic and technical lead at SAG Austria, explains why.
Many automakers specify that their automatic transmission fluid never needs changing – such as the BMW® lifetime filling. Yet, the transmission manufacturer is ZF®, and ZF recommends changing the fluid between 80,000 and120,000 km – or even earlier if you’re driving heavy loads, such as hauling a trailer.
No. Using that conventional method of replacing ATM fluid can leave up to two-thirds of the old fluid inside the system. To remove the entire volume of transmission fluid from the torque converter and the rest of the system, the change has to be performed with the aid of a flushing device.
The device first feeds a cleaning additive into the spent ATF, transforming it into a flushing fluid that efficiently dissolves and removes deposits in the system. For that purpose I use MOTOREX PRE FLUSH, a specialized cleaning additive that restores the basic properties of the original additive in the spent transmission fluid. This enables us to achieve a better cleaning effect during flushing (which takes about 10 minutes). So, no new transmission fluid needs to be used for flushing. The flushing device subsequently replaces the pre-defined quantity of the system volume with fresh ATM (this takes some 3 to 5 minutes). The fresh and spent transmission fluids are stored in replaceable 20-liter canisters in the back of the device.
The flushing device is connected to the transmission cooling circuit. MOTOREX offers a wide range of adapter sets for this purpose. You’ll find a detailed listing of this assortment as well as images showing the adapter points of specific makes of vehicles at the DYNCO website.
Information on the exact fluid quantity and the right product can be found in the vehicle specific maintenance documentation or online in the MOTOREX Oil Finder.
I especially like the self-explanatory menu navigation and the lightning-quick determination of direction of flow. And the new color touchscreen monitor is fantastic!
It’s often the only way to eliminate transmission problems, it improves gear-shifting comfort and, in preventive terms, ensures long service life. After changing the ATM, the striking improvement in shifting comfort is immediately noticeable. From the standpoint of auto workshops, it’s a service that optimizes customer satisfaction.
The share of new motor vehicles with an automatic transmission is steadily growing. This means that these vehicles’ systems also need proper servicing. With the DYNCO 2.0, auto service shops can cover yet another area of expertise. And that has a positive impact on sales figures. What’s more, MOTOREX offers a fitting range of state-of-the-art automatic transmission fluids. I’ve received particularly positive customer feedback about their ATF BLUE. This fluid can be used in a broad range of transmission types, such as ZF’s 6HP 6-speed, 8HP 8-speed and 9HP 9-speed transmissions.
