Travel over short distances is considered problematic, especially for diesel engines. If the engine never reaches operating temperature, deposits in the exhaust gas recirculation valve can cause malfunctions.
With exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a controlled volume of exhaust gases is returned to the combustion chamber, reducing nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 70%. If EGR is not functioning properly, the onboard diagnostics system sends an error alert. Regularly adding DIESEL IMPROVER fuel additive prevents formation of deposits. The built-in cetane booster also improves ignition and combustion.
