Founded as a sole proprietorship in Antiesenhofen by Franz and Theresia Braumann in 1959, the company originally specialised in well construction and heating technology. Today, however, Braumann Tiefbau is a market leader in trenchless line construction and microtunneling throughout Central Europe.

In 2000, Braumann began pivoting into a civil engineering company specialising in trenchless line construction. Using the client's requirements and cost-effectiveness as guiding factors, the company uses a variety of different process technologies in its projects. These range from trenchless renovation processes and flush-drilling technology to partial-face and full-face tunnelling processes.

Braumann’s customer base is just as broad as its range of services. Its processes are suitable for everything from water and wastewater pipe construction to gas, energy and communication pipelines. It can drill holes up to 1,000 m long with diameters of up to 4 m. Customers from the industrial, energy supply and telecommunications sectors, as well as communes, value this high level of performance and efficiency. Braumann has also installed a data monitoring system that provides all excavation data in real time, which it uses for internal purposes and to pass on as information to the client. Connectivity and digitalisation on the construction site are part and parcel of everyday working life for Braumann.

The company currently employs around 220 people and is led by the managing directors Franz Braumann and Rudolf Bergmair MSc, both of whom have engineering degrees. Maximilian Braumann studied civil engineering at a technical university and joined the company around 18 months ago. He is currently a project manager for pipe excavation activities in Austria and Bavaria.

Maintenance and adaptation of the high-quality machinery and equipment is carried out in the in-house workshop at the Antiesenhofen headquarters under the direction of Patrick Kleinpötzl, who likewise graduated from a technical university after studying engineering. Maintenance and overhauls of Herrenknecht tunnel boring machines are also carried out at the Antiesenhofen site.

When it comes to the hydraulic oils used in tunnel construction, rapid biodegradability is of great importance. It is a basic requirement in the modern industry and is documented in data sheets and filling logs. Braumann Tiefbau has been relying on ECOSYNT HEPR from MOTOREX since early 2022. This modern, innovative hydraulic oil is compatible with conventional hydraulic oils and biodegradable according to the OECD 301 B standard. In addition, it is very stable and enables a long service life. It also offers technical reliability when changing from mineral hydraulic oils to biodegradable ones. Detailed technical advice and regular oil analyses are a matter of course for MOTOREX.
