A new milestone for MOTOREX in motorsports: last weekend at Silverstone, the Swiss lubricant specialist and the KTM factory team competed in their 100th Grand Prix together in MotoGP.
When a leading specialist in lubricants and care products teams up with the world's most successful motorbike manufacturer in motorsports, then the outcome is almost bound to be a success story, and not just on the racing circuit. Because MOTOREX uses its successful involvement in MotoGP and many other racing series as a demanding test lab and translates the experience it gains in motorsports into high-quality series products. It’s no surprise that MOTOREX oils are rightly regarded as #raceproven.
As early as 2003, when KTM started out on its Motorcycle World Championship adventure, MOTOREX joined up with the Mattighofen-based company as a technical partner in the 125cc class. In the same year, KTM pulled off its first podium finish in Malaysia, and in 2004, the future world champion Casey Stoner claimed the first victory for KTM, also in Sepang. The company’s logo has always been displayed in the distinctive MOTOREX green on the slim orange fairing of the KTM 125 FRR.
With their entry into the premier class, the two partners opened a whole new chapter. The wildcard entry of the KTM RC16 in Valencia 2016 marked the first of what has now become 100 MotoGP races together. In their very first full World Championship season in 2017, Pol Espargaró clinched the first top ten placement for KTM in Brno. Once again it was the Spaniard who displayed the KTM orange and MOTOREX green combination on the podium for the first time in 2018, after finishing third in Valencia.
In the 2020 season, KTM finally joined the ranks of the biggest names in MotoGP: at the third Grand Prix of the year, Brad Binder - who had just moved up from Moto2 - rode the factory bike to the Austrian company’s first ever MotoGP victory. The then 25-year-old South African thus became the first rider to give KTM a victory in Moto3, Moto2, and then in the premier class. In 2021, Binder and Miguel Oliveira each won a MotoGP round. Brad Binder also set a new MotoGP world speed record of 362.4 km/h on the KTM RC16 at Mugello. In 2022, Oliveira won in Indonesia, taking the joint KTM and MOTOREX track record in the premier class to four Grand Prix victories.
The long-standing collaboration between the two partners - who also win races and titles in enduro and motocross world championships – goes far beyond motorsport: each of the new bikes coming off the production line at the KTM factory in Mattighofen is filled with MOTOREX products
