José Hermida still is on of the World’s best mountain bikers, standing out due to his amazing stability. For years, he has been climbing to the top of various podiums. And 2009’s Worldcup season was no different, being one of the most succesful years of his carreer thus far: He won both the Worldcup’s first race and the Worldcup final, and additionaly he scored second-place-finishes at both races in Canada. Apart from that, he won at the Spanish national championships, caught a silver medal at the European championships and finished in fourth at the World championships, narrowly missing out on a podium finish. This is a unique balance. From the junior over the under23 to the elite category, Hermida has been vastly successful, with Athen’s Olympic silver medal as the highlight so far. He has been World champion in both categories for younger riders, but so far the elite World champion title has eluded him. That is supposed to change this year Chances are that he is going to complete his collection of medals in the course of next season.
